Information

Program Description:

MPM Math, originated in 1988, is a well-sequenced math program designed around the concepts of Multiple-Process and Multi-Model mathematics. The program is a self-learning system personalized for each student. Right now, the program is flourishing in United States, Canada, Taiwan, Singapore and Philippines with more than 80,000 students and more than one thousand classrooms.

Program’s five Goals:

(1) To improve overall math skills by balancing the growth of calculation and conceptional abilities,
(2) to promote true problem-solving skills through the development of independent, divergent, and creative thinking,
(3) to encourage an active self-learning attitude,
(4) to strengthen self-confidence by continuously challenging the new and the unknown, and
(5) to revitalize the enjoyment of learning mathematics.

Faculty Info:

Alex Chang, Ph.D., P.E., Sr. MPM Instructor since 1998
Full time tutor in MPM Math, pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, as well as test preparation for SATs and ACT math.

Philosophy:

All students are unique and should be guided in different ways. Discussions between instructor and student are vital in the learning process. Workbooks are assigned according to student’s ability and progress. Additional work sheets in basic calculations may be assigned when needed. As an enriching math program, students are encouraged to learn as far as they can master.

Parents’ Role:

Parents are encouraged to review student’s class work, to provide suitable study environment at home, and to remind students in completing homework promptly. Parents are discouraged in correcting students’ homework or providing unnecessary assistance. Parents are required to inform the center prior to withdrawing the student from the program.
